Massage techniques in labour

✨Massage in Labour✨

This is me applying sacral counter pressure during a surge/sensation/contraction for a woman in intense active labour recently.

I find that this is too intense early on in labour but can be really effective later.

In early labour, more relaxation focused massage can be really nice 💆💆‍♀️💆‍♂️- if you want to be touched that is!

Some women really want space and any touch is too much!!

Using coconut oil, or other chemical free massage oils, sometimes with essential oils is so soothing. And as you can see here, works really well in the birthing pool.

Even a hand to hold (arm wrestling style 💪 grip to save your fingers from being crushed) and someone to breathe with are sometimes the most effective ways of riding those crazy waves in labour🌊🏄‍♀️.
