Do you sit down and find you can't stop the internal stream of thoughts to even take a deep breath?

Or maybe you don't even bother to try because you know it won't work?

That's ok!

Forcing things and judging yourself isn't going to make it a pleasant experience even if you did try!

So maybe if you'd like to take time to connect and slow down/switch off, try this:

✨ Don't do anything on the list

✨ Look at the list

✨ Take a deep breath

First Time Mum Home Birth Story

I have just been at a beautiful birth at home where these hormones of labour were working perfectly together to facilitate physiological labour of her first baby.

She chose to birth at home because she wanted to feel safe and somewhere familiar when she was birthing. She didn’t want to be unnecessarily observed. She just wanted her husband and me, her midwife who she has seen for every appointment since she was 7 weeks pregnant. Just people who would help her to feel safe and able to relax while birthing her baby.

I also want to point out that I have never met anyone who wanted a 'doula and a willow tree's kind of birth, pick that simply because they wanted something pretty to look at. Homebirths with an independent midwife are discussed at length, the pros and cons of the risks associated with being a distance from home, and with going into hospital are both discussed at length so that fully informed choice can be made, BY THAT WOMAN.
